Imprisoned Beauty

After the struggle for the throne and the palace coup came to an end, Zheng Shuyu, held hostage, was detained in the Eastern Palace by Crown Prince Yuan Rui and ordered to copy sutras to atone for her sins. She rose early and worked late, diligently day after day, but Yuan Rui never once gave her a kind look. So be it. The Zheng family had been the first to turn against him. How could she dare hope for his forgiveness? Zheng Shuyu only hoped to finish atoning for her sins soon, leave the palace for the ancestral lands, and reunite with her family. But as she copied the sutras, she began to notice Yuan Rui acting stranger and stranger. Her childhood friend had ulterior motives, so Yuan Rui drove him out of the capital: “If you love flirting so much, then go marry into a family in southern Yunnan as part of a political alliance.” A former classmate gave her a fox-fur coat, and Yuan Rui tossed it aside: “Is the Eastern Palace so short of clothes that you need this?” A hostage from an enemy state tried to help her escape, and Yuan Rui pointed his sword at his chest: “She is my palace's convict. You have no right to touch her!” The Third Prince tried to use her as leverage, and Yuan Rui finally lost control: “Lay a hand on her, and I'll take your life!” It was only much later that Zheng Shuyu learned that, ever since their time at Luotong Academy, she had been Yuan Rui's cherished love, buried deep in his heart. 【A Few Warnings Before You Read】 * Not a rebirth or transmigration story, and not a wish-fulfillment novel * Not a strong female lead, nor one who kills without hesitation. The heroine grows over time, sweet and a little naive, but not foolish * A mix of sweetness and angst, not a purely tragic story
