Four murders occurred in succession at Northern University in Bingcheng. The victims were between twenty-two and thirty years old, wore red dresses, had long hair, and were between 168 and 172 centimeters tall. None showed obvious signs of being beaten or stabbed. They had all been starved to death.
Gao Feiming, head of the major crimes squad at the Bingcheng Public Security Bureau, arrived at Northern University with Chunyu Bei, Pi De, and Lao Chai, all experienced crime fighters. As the police moved in, Bingcheng TV’s On the Scene began livestreaming its investigation into the string of murders. Zhang Yi, a reporter who had covered crime for years, named the series of murders the “Friday” killings because they had all taken place on Fridays.
The reporter’s involvement made the case even more mysterious and bizarre. Before long, Northern University had become the hottest topic on the streets of Bingcheng, and the campus was gripped by boundless fear.
