I Asked You to Be the Young Lady's Study Companion, So How Did You Take the Top Scholar Exam?

A poor family, a young sister, a shrewish sister-in-law, an ineffectual older brother, and him, sold away as a child after a life of misfortune. Sun Yun, a top student in the humanities, transmigrates into the Great Qian Dynasty as a lowly servant in a noble household. Fortunately, he saves the young master from drowning by chance, only to discover that the young master is actually a girl! This earth-shattering secret, enough to have an entire household executed, earns Sun Yun a promotion to personal page. Desperate to make money, escape his servile status, and change his fate, Sun Yun starts by whipping the young master's backside. Drawing on the knowledge of his previous life, he writes (copies) poems and authors (copies) books. Before he knows it, he has swept all three top places in the imperial examinations and been named the top scholar by the emperor! Sun Yun, the treacherous chancellor later remembered by history as the most powerful minister of his age, can now write with such force that storms rise and compose poems that move ghosts and gods to tears! At the palace examination, he presents the Four Sentences of Hengqu, which become the lifelong pursuit of scholars everywhere. As a warrior, he can kill a man in ten paces and travel a thousand miles without leaving a trace! He sweeps north to defeat the Jinting, destroys the Japanese pirates in the east, conquers the foreign tribes in the west, and opens sea routes in the south. With his power commanding respect at home and abroad, he rises steadily to become the first regent of Great Qian. Years later, the ministers plead for death: “The traitor Sun intends to rebel and lay hands on the Empress Dowager. We beg Your Majesty to execute Sun Haoran!” The new emperor roars, “What are you trying to do, my lords? If Father Chancellor ascends the throne, won’t I still be the crown prince?”
