Late Spring Tide

Yu Xihe never imagined a day like this would come. Just as she was about to marry someone else, at the very moment the first bow to Heaven was about to be completed, he burst in, covered in wounds. He took her back to his home. The shocking incident soon spread throughout Bianjing. The Ding Prince, whose bride had been snatched, reported it to the emperor, while the Yu family, whose daughter had been taken, pressed him at the gates. Inside the courtyard, within its high walls, he held her down and refused to let go. “Yu Xihe, tell me this: how far are you willing to sacrifice yourself to find your brother?” At the mention of her brother, Yu Xihe's eyes reddened. She looked away without answering, then heard him continue: “You know there's a tiger on the mountain, yet you insist on going there. What am I supposed to do if you die? Xihe, whose life are you trying to take, yours or mine?” She had no parents, and her brother was the only family she had to rely on. But after he went to the capital to take the imperial exams, he vanished without a trace. The neighbors, the county magistrate, even the teacher who had taught her brother to read since childhood all claimed he had never existed. How could that be? She was determined to go to the capital and find out the truth, but by a twist of fate, she took someone else's identity and became a noblewoman in Bianjing. Caught up in the inner courts of a great estate and the whirlpool of power, she was already stretched thin when she unexpectedly ran into him again. The boy who had grown up with her had transformed into Bianjing's youngest marquis. He was the only person who knew her true identity. He should have been her enemy, so why did it have to be him?
