Nine thousand years ago, Li Xuanyuan attained the Dao and became an emperor. To protect the continent, he fought countless enemies from beyond the heavens alone for millennia.
In the end, he sacrificed his imperial body to forge the Eternal Heaven-Suppressing Pagoda, sealing the world beyond the heavens for all time.
Nine thousand years later, with his power exhausted, he returns to the Jiuxiao Continent.
He expected to be welcomed with flowers and applause, but instead, he is met with countless cold stares.
“Without cultivation, what kind of Ancient Saint Emperor are you?”
“Saved the continent? Wasn’t that the achievement of the two great imperial clans? What does it have to do with a traitor like you?”
As it turns out, while Li Xuanyuan fought alone, the two great imperial clans joined forces to drive out and annex the Saint Heaven Imperial Clan. Now, only one surviving branch remains. They even rewrote history, claiming his achievements for themselves and pinning the blame on Li Xuanyuan.
The only ones on the whole continent still willing to welcome and trust him are his former family.
Li Xuanyuan sees this and curls his lips into a cold smile. The world does not know that the core of the Eternal Heaven-Suppressing Pagoda, which sealed the world beyond the heavens, remains within him.
“If the world has abandoned me, then I’ll abandon the heavens!”
