The Crown Prince Is Unmatched

Ji Yan gets an absurdly favorable start.

He transmigrates into the body of a timid prince whom the emperor has cast out to fend for himself.

His original self was used by his sixth brother to anger the powerful Third Prince, and ultimately chose to hang himself from a branch in the southeast!

Faced with the Third Prince's aggressive demands, Ji Yan hits back hard.

Knowing what awaits him, Ji Yan is on his way to the palace to plead guilty when a poem draws the attention of the long-vanished Retired Emperor.

Thanks to the Retired Emperor's recommendation, Ji Yan escapes unscathed, though he should have been stripped of his imperial status.

He even becomes friends with the Retired Emperor, without realizing that the man before him is actually his grandfather.

Only when Ji Yan finally makes his way to the throne does the old man, now nearing the end of his life, slowly say,

"Grandson, your grandpa's pretty reliable, isn't he!"
