"Teacher Xiang, are you really applying to leave and teach in southern Xinjiang? The teaching conditions there are terrible, and you won't find more than a few volunteer teachers for a hundred miles in any direction."
Looking at the application materials Xiang Wan had brought, the principal seemed puzzled.
After all, she had only two months left in her Xinjiang volunteer program, and now, at this point, she had suddenly applied to continue teaching somewhere even more remote and far away.
Xiang Wan offered a faint smile. Her voice was calm but unusually firm. "Yes, Principal. I've reapplied to the organization for another two years. I want to go to southern Xinjiang."
Seeing that her mind was made up, the principal stopped trying to persuade her and stamped the application directly. "Wait for the organization to approve it. You should be able to leave in about ten days."
"But have you discussed this with Teacher Jiang? He protects you like you're the apple of his eye. How could he bear to let you go all the way to southern Xinjiang?"
A bitter look crossed Xiang Wan's face.
Everyone at the school knew Jiang Ye was the perfect husband, treating her like his most precious treasure.
Yet this very man, who loved her so deeply, had cheated on her with another woman.
Xiang Wan found it hard to understand.
Could a person's heart really be divided in two and given to someone else?
She shook her head and replied firmly, "There's no need to tell him. His own service period is almost over anyway."
The principal looked at her several times, still confused, but in the end said nothing.
Just after walking out, she received a photo from Huang Shiqi, but hadn't opened it yet.
