Am I the only one who thinks the male protagonist is pitiful?

After watching The Little Lady in the Black Shop, I watched Zhonggong, only to realize that it is a dynasty background. The only thing is that Xiang Qin's character was written as Qiu Min'er. The change was very big. Maybe it was due to her status, but Xiang Qin who was used to it suddenly changed and could not adapt to it.
