Longing for You, Day and Night

Su Qianyu liked to think of herself as a bird in a cage.

Bound by the debt she owed her adoptive parents and neglected by her cheating, scumbag husband, she had endured three years of misery in her marriage. She thought she could keep being a respectable wife and daughter, until a cancer diagnosis told her she had less than a year to live.

She decided to get divorced, break free, and live for herself for the time she had left.

But getting divorced was easier said than done.

She looked at the aloof, dignified man hidden in the shadows. "Help me."

Han Shizhou: "What makes you think I'd help you?"

Su Qianyu: "I heard you're secretly in love with me."

Later, he returned the sketchbook she'd lost.

Behind a drawing of a caged bird, crumpled and stained with dried tears, the man had written in a bold, sure hand, in beautiful lettering: Don't cry.
