First time writing a story with mystery elements

I've been reflecting recently. This book is indeed not in line with the market, and I am very grateful to the editor for giving me a chance. The opening chapter doesn't have any interesting points or hooks to attract readers to continue reading. Even if you bite the bullet and read it, it's still unattractive. But actually from my point of view, there are boring and attractive parts. Of course, I don't mean that I wrote it well. I just think that as a story, it should be complete, but it just doesn't look good. Originally I thought of a story about the growth of a lonely child, but maybe it would be better if it was placed in published literature (but I obviously don't have the writing skills and organizational skills to be published). After all, in published literature, readers buy it and read it, so they have to bite the bullet and read it. Speaking of which, I watched Fight Club the week before. To be honest, the opening chapter didn't really appeal to me, and the same applies to most of the first part, which I found very boring. But I thought that I would just buy a ticket and go to the cinema to watch it, and I would watch it to the end no matter what. Then after reading it, I was shocked and thought it was really good. All the boredom and mediocrity in the previous scenes are actually preparations for the explosion in the last scene, which is for a plate of dumplings made with vinegar. I really like this kind of thing, and I also wanted to do it, so I wrote it like this, and this is the result. Of course, I don't mean to be a eunuch.
