Decades ago, countless monsters surged out of the ocean and began viciously attacking the nations on land. They had no intelligence and knew only slaughter, driven by an insatiable thirst for blood. Anyone wounded by a monster, human or spirit beast, would become corrupted and join their ranks.
In just a few short months, countless nations fell, and vast stretches of land came under the monsters' control.
