Qin Xiang transmigrates into a tragic romance novel. Her original self was the legitimate daughter of the Qin household, and drowned to death. Mu Ranchen, a miracle-working physician, was summoned by Qin Xiang’s mother to save her. Qin Xiang realizes that Mu Ranchen is the novel’s biggest backer and wants to cling to him, but he has a poor impression of her because of her original self’s foolish behavior. Qin Xiang has two maids: Guixiu, aloof and skilled in martial arts, and Yanluo, chatty and deft-handed. After reassuring her two worried maids, Qin Xiang recalls the novel’s events and considers what she should do next.
In the novel, the original Qin Xiang swallowed gold to threaten her parents with suicide. She was in the back garden, swallowing a gold ingot, when Qi Mohan stopped and rescued her in time. Qi Mohan and Su Xue were meeting secretly in the garden then, which Qin Xiang finds curious.
Mu Ranchen is the most handsome man in the novel and Qin Xiang’s favorite character. He also saved the original Qin Xiang and the Qin household more than once, and is incredibly powerful. Qin Xiang decides she will do whatever it takes to cling to Mu Ranchen’s coattails.
