The Invisible Bodyguard

In June 2014, an explosive post went viral online: the legendary online romance story about a six-yuan serving of malatang. Surely most internet users know the tale of the young woman who traveled a thousand miles for a date and was put through it thirteen times in one night.

Malatang, a spicy snack originating in Sichuan, has spread across the country thanks to its spicy, satisfying flavor and affordability. From big cities to small towns, malatang franchises can be found almost everywhere. In real life, nearly everyone under thirty has eaten this kind of fast food.
