So, what is regret? Is it Blake suffering a Grade 3 muscle strain and breaking down in tears at the Doha Diamond League? Is it Ronaldo, substituted early in Rome in 2002, unable to hold back his surging tears? Or Michael Owen, who caught up with the wind but couldn't outrun injury, struggling to crawl off the field? Is it McGrady saying “It's my fault” eleven times at the postgame press conference after the first round of the 2007 playoffs? Is it Yao Ming, forced to announce his retirement in 2011, right in the prime of his career? Is it Kobe, who tore his Achilles in 2013, made his free throws, returned to the locker room, and could no longer hold back his tears? Or Jeremy Lin, clutching his knee and telling the camera six times, “I'm done”? … In 2000, at the dawn of a new century, Chen Yu walked out of Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. He looked up at the sky, ready to say no to every one of these regrets.
