A Transmigration Tale in the Qing Dynasty

I came across this clear-cut novel by chance in high school. Even after I have been working for many years, it is still my favorite and I read it again and again when I have free time. I later learned that it had been serialized on Qidian as early as 2008. It was already a classic when I first read it. Now that I encountered it again in Qimao, it instantly took me back to my youth. There are thousands of Qing Dynasty novels, but this one will always be special in my heart. What impressed me most was not just the setting of a family of three traveling through time, but the fact that the parents tried their best to save their daughter from being a concubine or being manipulated by others. The father worked hard to earn fame and build a family business, and gradually provided a solid support for his daughter's family, and finally allowed her to become the prince Fujin based on her family background. This parental love struck a chord with the simplest emotions. This kind of parental love is simple and shocking, and it also makes the whole novel jump out of the small love of house fighting from the beginning. Kangxi's regard and favor for this family gave the story a bit more warmth and confidence. But the author's real pattern is far more than that. She wrote about the Old Summer Palace, Western craftsmanship, openness and learning, and a family with modern cognition trying to rewrite the fate of poverty, weakness, and humiliation in the late Qing Dynasty. Even though some plots are inconsistent with official history, they are full of modern people's regrets and expectations for that period of history. This feeling of family and country is the sincerity of not wanting to see the mountains and rivers broken and the people suffering. In 2008, it is really rare for the author to write such a text that is full of feelings about his family and country and faces the scars of Manchu and Han culture and history. But what I will never forget the most is the heroine's feelings for the fourth master - Yongzheng. The heroine is a fan of Yongzheng, and she comes with a thick filter of his diligent life. She knew very well that Yongzheng in history was suspicious, harsh, mean and ungrateful, and she also understood his loneliness and inability to control himself after he ascended the throne. So she was doing a gentle redemption from beginning to end. When he was still the fourth master, she carefully and quietly persuaded and guided him, preventing him from showing his suspicion and harshness; when he ascended the throne and became the emperor, she never dared to rely on him wholeheartedly like an ordinary woman - she knew clearly that the emperor was no longer the fourth master he used to be. But she still tried her best to stay by his side, conditioning his body, and persuading him to be kind to his brothers, children, and relatives, gradually pulling him from the cold emperor in history to a more humane and softer person. This is the protection of the heroine, and also the selfishness of the author hidden in the text. She wanted to give the emperor, who had worked hard all his life but suffered too much infamy, a gentler and more complete appearance. The relationship between the two is therefore particularly touching. The depiction of emotional lines is equally delicate and moving. The Fourth Master fell in love with the heroine when he first met her, and their affection gradually deepened after several chance encounters. Even though the heroine's prominent family background became the focus of competition for the prince, the Fourth Master's love was always pure and had nothing to do with family status, only sincerity. From the heroine's initial resistance to falling in love, to her eventual bond with the Fourth Master in their day-to-day interactions, they walked hand in hand through the life of an empress and empress. The way the two manage their marriage is tolerant, understanding, and working together, which is of great reference even today. Their marriage is not a fairy tale, but a matter of management, restraint, sobriety, and protection. Knowing how to advance and retreat, knowing what to do, staying true to one's heart, and sharing weal and woe, this kind of relationship between husband and wife is still moving today. I have reread it countless times and still love it. It is my youth, the most special moment in my heart, and a gentle dream written for history, love, and family. It's worth meeting it. More than ten years have passed, and when I read this novel again, I can still be moved by the family affection, love and feelings of family and country. It is not only a high-quality Qing Dynasty novel, but also contains the youthful memories of a generation, as well as the yearning for beautiful emotions and peace of family and country. It is worth reading again and again.
