The Bold, Beautiful Bride of the Mountain Village

The poorest family in a remote mountain village, the Xiao family, spent all their savings to buy a mute bride with a face full of scars, dark skin, and a skinny frame. She was mocked as the ugliest bride for miles around. Unable to endure their poverty, the ugly bride ran away, fell into the hands of villains, and was beaten to death.

When she opened her eyes again, the dark, skinny body now housed the soul of an assassin. Her scarred face healed, her sun-darkened skin gradually grew fair, and the mute woman could even speak. She became the most beautiful bride around. The villagers all said the Xiao family was cursed and steered clear of them.

Her husband's family was dirt poor, with barely anything in their house, and an overwhelming burden to bear. Luckily, her mountain man of a husband doted on her without limit. The wife led her husband in making money, buying fields and land, working hard to sow crops, and raising children. With sweat and ingenuity, they built a prosperous life. (This is a one-man-one-woman romance, and both the male and female leads are sexually inexperienced.)
