The Prosperous Tang Dynasty: Starting by Marrying Yang Yuhuan

After waking up, an obscure history-video blogger transmigrated to the prosperous Tang dynasty and became Li Chang, Prince of Shou.

It was December of 735.

That year, Li Chang, Prince of Shou, was appointed nominal Grand Governor of Yizhou and Military Commissioner of Jiannan, granted the title of Kaifu Yitong Sansi, and married a woman of the Yang family as his princess consort.

The moment he saw Yang Yuhuan dressed in bridal red, Li Chang felt his world turn upside down.

Because he knew what history had in store: three years later, his mother, Consort Wu Hui, the emperor’s beloved, would die. Five years after that, his father, Li Longji, would set his sights on his daughter-in-law, force them to divorce, then take her as his own consort. She would become Yang Guifei.

As someone who had transmigrated, how could Li Chang let another man cuckold him?

So, to defend his dignity, Li Chang had no choice but to embark on the road to power.

Along the way, he witnessed the splendor of the High Tang: famous generals in abundance, capable ministers everywhere, and a flourishing culture.

Yet beneath that splendor, contradictions piled up and ordinary people were treated as expendable. The ills that would trigger the An Lushan Rebellion had already taken root, and the Tang dynasty was teetering on the brink of disaster.

Li Chang defended his dignity, and he also wanted to preserve the splendor of the High Tang.
