Reborn Star: An Eighty-Year-Old Grandma Goes Viral for Her Antics

Li Xiqin, an old woman over eighty, did not die from an enemy’s bullet, the lonely passage of time, or the illnesses of old age. She choked to death on a pastry. She thought it was a rather undignified way to go. When the old lady opened her eyes, she found she had become another celebrity named Li Xiqin. Her granddaughter, Zhao Ranran, had become her assistant, and there was also a hungry baby to care for. No matter. Grandma could fend for herself. She could return to her old trade, grow crops, and support the family without a problem. What? Her public image had collapsed, she was caught up in a contract termination scandal, she owed an astronomical debt, and her studio was in a financial crisis and couldn’t even pay its employees... All at once, the old lady felt the pressure mounting. What was she supposed to do? To raise two kids, Grandma had to toughen up and find the fighting spirit she’d had in her younger days: get to work. What was acting? These days, acting cost money. Back then, acting could cost you your life. What was dancing? In her day, Grandma had been the belle of the ballroom. What were music, chess, calligraphy, and painting? Who wasn’t a refined young lady in her day? Watch as Grandma shocks the entertainment industry, one step at a time. Her grandma, who had been dead for two years, suddenly dropped from the sky and became her boss: the celebrity Li Xiqin, whose public image had collapsed and who had died by suicide. Zhao Ranran was on tenterhooks, constantly worrying that the old lady would buckle under the pressure of the entertainment industry. But not only did Grandma make it through, she also... Excuse me? Could this woman who can write, paint, dance, play the piano, and speak Russian really be the grandma she knew? Grandma, weren’t you just an “ordinary country woman”?
