Yan'e Lake

The novel uses "my" personal experience and my grandmother's tender narration as clues, and unfolds a long scroll of more than eighty years from the birth of "my" grandfather at the beginning of the last century to "my" graduating from high school and bidding farewell to Yan'e Lake in the late 1980s. The work uses the magnificent historical era as the background and Yan'e Lake as the emotional anchor and geographical core, outlining the beautiful scenery of the misty old Jiangnan. The story focuses on the fate of farmers in the south of the Yangtze River in the last century: they struggled to survive in wars, rose up to resist under the iron heel of the Japanese army, fought bravely against landowner exploitation, and witnessed the dawn of victory in the liberation war; then they followed the footsteps of their leaders, devoted all their efforts to building their homes, and finally broke free from suffering and ushered in a stable and peaceful life. During this period of more than 80 years, the people of Yan'e Lake were as fragile and easy to break as the reed poles on the lakeside, but they were as tenacious as the deep roots of the reeds - wildfires could not burn them out, and the spring breeze blew them again, writing the unyielding power of ordinary lives in the wind and rain of the times.
