The Nuo Cocoon

On the night her boyfriend disappeared, Lin Erqing saw a ghost, as well as a police officer named Li Wen who treated her as a suspect. After that, her peaceful life was completely shattered. Journalists, lawyers, students, even practitioners of yin-yang arts, more and more people barged into her life. She was skilled at carving Nuo masks, yet she didn't know that everyone wore a mask. With Li Wen's subtle probing and seemingly sincere concern, would they face everything together and break free like butterflies, or fight alone and trap themselves in their own web? A strange car crash, a missing patient in a vegetative state, a witness's lies, a wrongful conviction thousands of miles away: was the force behind it all human or ghost, righteous or evil? Does something unseen necessarily not exist? Is what we can touch necessarily real? Are the dead lingering, or do the living have ulterior motives? Beneath layer upon layer of Nuo masks, the team painstakingly pieced together the clues, which gradually led them to the depths of Yunnan's mountains, a place that had once raised Lin Erqing and taught her Nuo culture, but also concealed the deepest pain of her life. Meanwhile, the tangled relationship between Lin Erqing and Li Wen grew ever more complicated. Lin Erqing didn't run away, nor did she lose herself in romance. She returned to Yunnan, facing pursuit and obstruction from her opponents as she and the team navigated the realms of ghosts and human hearts. Through a long and arduous investigation, she found herself and confronted a revenge plot that had been twenty years in the making.
