The Prince Consort's Contract

[Ancient-era live-in son-in-law + wish-fulfillment + play the pig to eat the tiger]

I’m Fang Jin, a penniless young escort who travels far and wide for a living. All I want is to deliver my cargo, pay off my debts, and marry a wife so I can enjoy a warm bed at home.

Who knew an ordinary job would get me tangled up with the most spoiled and difficult-to-please princess in the entire capital, Princess Yong’an!

She docked my pay for being late, made me work as a hired hand for being slow, and finally ruined my livelihood with a single word, getting me kicked out of the escort agency!

Furious, I went to her door with a knife to demand an explanation. I was ready to fight her to the death, but this resentful woman from the imperial palace suddenly changed her tune!

“You lost your job because of me. I was in the wrong. How about this: come work at my residence. I’ll pay you ten taels a month, and you only need to come in one day every ten days. How does that sound?”

What? You mean I can get a deal like that?

But when she blushed and told me the job was to pretend to be her “contract husband,” I was completely stunned!

Good heavens! I’m just a lowly escort. I only want to make money, not get involved with a princess!
