A Chaotic World, Starting with the Civil Service Exam

Wang Ye transmigrated to the Great Qian dynasty. To honor his father's dying wish, he resolved to pass the imperial exams and become the top scholar. How could he afford enough to eat while studying? He invented soap, refined salt, and grew wealthy beyond measure. War raged year after year, and the exams were postponed? Wang Ye tied up his hair, assembled an army, and with just three thousand displaced people, stormed the Xiongnu city of Zhizhi. Corrupt officials ran rampant at court, handing out titles for a price. How could he allow that? Wielding the emperor's sword, Wang Ye purged the traitors and restored order to the court. In the end, faced with a commercial empire flourishing everywhere and a Great Qian on the verge of unifying the land, the emperor and his ministers all wept: "Please, just give up on becoming the top scholar, all right? There's no future in that."
