Deadbeat Father and Son, Stop Chasing Me. I Only Want to Do Science

In the 1990s, rising research star Gu Qing secretly stayed married for ten years to fulfill her mentor’s dying wish, building the Lu father and son into influential figures in Beijing. In return, her husband, Lu Ziming, became entangled with his first love. When her son pointed at Zheng Feiyu and called her “Mom,” Gu Qing tore up their yellowed marriage certificate. “Whoever wants to be your nanny can do it!” She disappeared under an assumed name and relaunched her mentor’s top-secret project, returning to the research world with superconducting technology that stunned the world. The son who once looked down on her clutched a model from the lab and wept. “Mom, Duobao doesn’t want any new toys. I just want you to come home!” Beijing’s rising star Shen Peicheng dropped to one knee in front of the cameras at China Central Television. “Professor Gu, can I finally make good on the love I was too afraid to confess ten years ago?” Lu Ziming found a video of his father in his final days. On screen, the old man clutched Gu Qing’s hand and trembled. “My son doesn’t deserve you...” On a stormy night outside the research institute, two figures, one big and one small, knelt with a handmade LED sign. “Qingqing, this time, we’ll be the ones chasing your light.”
