Winter of the Eleventh Year

Wen Li had loved Feng Yan for ten years, loving him so humbly she had all but buried herself in the dirt. Everyone thought she would surely marry him. What they didn’t know was that he didn’t love her at all. On the day they were supposed to register their marriage, a phone call summoned Feng Yan away. For the first time, his face showed such tension and urgency. Wen Li waited from dawn until dark, but he never came back. At last, her heart died. She left him with one sentence, “We’re over,” then vanished from Feng Yan’s life for good. Later, Feng Yan crossed countless mountains and rivers before finally finding her. He knelt in the rain and begged Wen Li to forgive him. But a cool, aloof man had her in his arms, a piercing, smug sneer on his lips. “If Mr. Feng has any self-respect, he’ll stop bothering my wife.”
