Parting Ways with You

After five years as a wretched palace slave, she dragged her crippled leg out of hell, determined to tear off their masks! Nan Yushu was once Consort Ling, the emperor’s most beloved woman. A palace was built for her, and fireworks lit for her sake. After being framed, she had her leg broken and was reduced to the lowliest laundry maid at Xishan Palace, where the eunuch Huang Cheng subjected her to endless humiliation. They met again at the birthday banquet. Consort Shu’s “Sister” made her a public spectacle. The voice that had once sung like a lark was now hoarse, and the face that had once bewitched the emperor was swollen and red from slaps. Wei Xuanqi watched coldly. For “disrupting Consort Shu’s birthday banquet,” he ordered that both her hands be broken! Dragged along like an insect, with the bones in her palms silently fracturing, she swallowed her blood and tears. “Five years have passed, and you still won’t let me go...” She was taken back to the imperial palace, but her status was even more degrading. She became a “bed-warming maid” in the emperor’s chambers! Her clothes stripped away, a hundred crisscrossing scars were revealed in the candlelight. He ran his fingertips over them and sneered. “Seeing these scars puts my mind at ease.” When she thought it was nothing more than humiliation, he suddenly pressed himself against her, his breath burning hot. “You may be a little ugly... but what do you think I brought you back for?”
