A Marriage Years in the Making: My Childhood Sweetheart Drops from the Sky, So Don’t Spoil Me Too Much

Tao Yi never expected her first boyfriend to break up with her, much less that she would one day go on a blind date. She had only just returned to the country when she was forced to meet a prospective match. Yang Sinian was refined and reserved, his manner gentle and courteous, with no fault to be found. But Tao Yi was only going through the motions, so she deliberately made herself sound like a handful. She thought they would never cross paths again, but the very next day, she and Yang Sinian walked out of the civil affairs bureau side by side, holding freshly stamped marriage certificates. - After getting married, they treated each other with respect and seemed to get along harmoniously, but neither had managed to truly understand the other. Then one day, a violent storm brought thunder and lightning so loud that Tao Yi couldn’t sleep. Knowing she was sensitive to noise, she planned to go to the living room and warm up some milk to help her sleep. But the moment she opened the door, she ran into Yang Sinian coming out of his study. Yang Sinian wore close-fitting silk pajamas, his hair perfectly styled. He looked as if he had dressed up carefully, without a trace of someone who had been working late. It was as though he had been waiting for her to fall into his trap. Their eyes met. He gazed steadily at her and said slowly: “Can’t sleep?” “If you’d like, I can keep you company.” - When Tao Yi first met Yang Sinian, her impression of him was: stiff, boring, with only a handsome face going for him. Later... She realized her first impression had been completely wrong. He was considerate, interesting, and... a master at seducing people.
