A Little Blessing Falls from the Sky in a Year of Famine, and Her Foster Mother’s Kicked Out

In a year of famine and snowstorms, a three-year-old little darling was struck with a stone by her wicked older brother, left gravely injured and on the brink of death. Her adoptive father watched coldly. “If the idiot dies, we’ll save on food!” Her adoptive mother chimed in spitefully. “We can still sell her to a trafficker and make some money!” Desperate to get rid of their “burden,” the couple split up the family and moved away in the middle of the night. But just as blood poured from the little darling’s head, her spirit finally fused with her body. She was a young phoenix from the Celestial Realm, with a phoenix-feather space at her disposal. The granaries filled with brown rice, and wild chickens came knocking at the door! Her adoptive parents abandoned her like a reed, but the rest of the family treasured her like a jewel. Her grandfather sold land to buy medicine for his bad leg. Her five older brothers were gaunt with hunger, yet gave her the last mouthful of porridge. “Little sis, eat your fill. We’re not hungry!” On the road fleeing famine, the little darling healed the sick with her left hand and beat the daylights out of the wicked with her right, turning her whole family from starving refugees into the richest family around. Later... Her “former” adoptive family was so hungry they gnawed on tree bark. They knelt outside the Chu family mansion, wailing, “Little darling, please give us something to eat!” The little darling smiled and handed them a bowl of “hot porridge.” “There’s plenty of clay to eat!”
