Glorious Splendor

[Marry a spoiled heir + love after marriage + taming her husband + strong heroine and roguish hero + business and political intrigue] The state of Xiao sends over a troublesome hot potato: the famed female general Qi Zhao, whose name is said to stop children from crying at night. With a lavish bridal procession in tow, she crashes through the gates of General Gu’s mansion in Rong. On their wedding day, the head of the Gu family deliberately snubs her and never sets foot in the bridal chamber. Everyone assumes that this powerless new mistress, no matter how fierce, will have to obey the rules of the inner household and serve as little more than a decoration. But Qi Zhao has never followed the rules. In the Gu household, she is the rule. With an iron fist, Qi Zhao puts the household in order, bringing the spoiled family head and everyone under its roof firmly to heel. Today, she catches him at a brothel and tames him in the street: “Should I break your legs or chop off your hands? Choose.” Tomorrow, she chases down a debt at a gambling den, law in hand: “Using your head to settle the account seems like a fair deal.” Rong’s most notorious playboy is tied up in the accounting office, reciting the multiplication table and kneeling as he works the abacus. The whole state of Rong is in an uproar: the shrew has turned the spoiled heir into an abacus prodigy! When Qi Zhao presses her mandarin-duck axes to Gu Yuanzheng’s neck to investigate the missing funds, the playboy stares at the cinnabar mole at the corner of her crimson eyes, and his throat suddenly tightens. This madwoman’s look as she kills is more captivating than any number in the account books.
