Drunk on the Evening Breeze

Everyone knew that Fu Yanxiu, the aloof beauty on the mountain peak, had a cherished red rose he had treasured for ten years. They had been engaged since childhood, but it seemed this red rose didn't like him at all. On the eve of their engagement, Gu Ranxing declared, “I'd rather die than marry you.” Then she slit her wrists and tried to kill herself. Fu Yanxiu was heartbroken and kept vigil over the critically ill Gu Ranxing for three days and nights. Though he had never believed in gods or Buddhas, he prayed to every deity in the heavens, only asking that Mo Ran be safe. But after waking up, Gu Ranxing seemed like a completely different person. “I'll call off our engagement.” “Not a chance. You're only allowed to marry me.”
