The Emperor Was Born a Woman

The Liang, Jiang, and Chu kingdoms divide the realm into three. The Empress of Jiang is murdered by her imperial consort. Only when her kingdom falls does she learn that he is Liang Ye, the Second Prince of Liang, and that the person who betrayed her was Hui Ru, her close maid whom she had regarded as a sister. From that moment on, there is no more Jiang Kingdom, and no more Jiang Yanlai. She escapes through a secret passage, fakes her death, and takes the name Jiang Yousheng. At the last moment, she is saved by Chu Zhaoheng, the Regent of Chu, but ends up in Chu as the lowest kind of slave. Reborn from the ashes, Jiang Yousheng eventually unites the three kingdoms and finds Chu Zhaoheng, the man with whom she will spend the rest of her life.
