After My Blind Date Went Well, My Trash Ex Cried and Begged Me to Take Him Back

Chen Xun didn’t show up on the day we were supposed to register our marriage. It was as if he had vanished from the face of the earth, leaving behind only a message: He was busy with work. Awkwardly, I stepped out of the line of people waiting to get married and slunk away. But when I turned around, I saw a birthday photo posted on my social media feed by Chen Xun’s childhood sweetheart. He was right in the center, holding the girl close by the arm. In the comments, she kept calling him “brother,” making the intimacy between them plain for all to see. I don’t know how many times I looked at that one photo. I joined all our mutual friends in liking it, then sent a message to a friend. “About that blind date you mentioned before, could you set it up for me?”
