The Bridal Sedan Rises, Carried by a Hundred Ghosts: The Mystic Princess Shakes the World

The bridal sedan sets off, carried by a hundred ghosts! Black and white lead the way as yin and yang play wedding music! Jiang Hua was left to grow up at a Taoist temple for sixteen years, then suddenly brought back to the marquis’s estate and forced to take someone else’s place as a bride in the middle of the night. Branded a “solitary star,” she is despised by the marquis’s family and tormented by the prince’s estate. She becomes a laughingstock throughout the capital, a poor little thing in the eyes of the people and the nobility. Until a valiant cavalry general travels a thousand miles to kneel at her door: “Daoist Master Jiang, please grant this old man another life-saving talisman!” The princess dowager, who has secluded herself in a Buddhist sanctuary, comes bearing gifts: “Thank you, Daoist Master Jiang, for clearing away my doubts all those years ago!” The richest man in Jiangnan presents ten thousand taels of gold: “Daoist Master Jiang, please accept this token of my gratitude!” The capital’s powerful and influential are thrown into an uproar. They line up to call on her, all hoping for a word of guidance from the Princess Consort of Jin. Even her heartless father and cold-blooded mother bring along her scheming half-sister to mooch off her, while everyone at the prince’s estate tries to curry favor with her. Jiang Hua feels a little overwhelmed. No one told her that revealing her secret identity would cause such a commotion. Prince Ji Su, known as the “living dead,” discovers that his new bride is like a pot of Biluochun tea after it’s steeped: gentle on the surface, ruthless underneath. When Jiang Hua finishes her business and tries to climb over the wall to sneak back to the Taoist temple, he stops her with ease. “Is my princess planning to have an affair and make off with my feelings without a care?” Jiang Hua says, “You flatter yourself, Your Highness. What feelings could there possibly be between us?” Ji Su presses her down, his lips against hers. “Spend a few more nights together in our room, and we’ll have some.”
