Three Lifetimes, Three Worlds, and the River of Forgetfulness

Above the River of Forgetfulness, our eyes meet, ripples stirring in their depths. Beside the flowers of the other shore, we walk together, leaning close until our hair turns white. Beneath the Three Lives Stone, hand in hand, we carve our deepest feelings into its face. Atop the Ninth Heaven Mountain, beneath the moon, we make a vow, our love profound. At the bridge of no return, we look back again and again, unable to say goodbye. Before the Mirror of Reincarnation, I hope we’ll meet again and continue where fate left us. By the banks of West Lake, the music of flute and reed pipe is achingly beautiful. Atop Kunlun Mountain, fate is hard to defy. In the ancient town of Floating Life, I forget my heart and lose my memories. Beneath the Demon-Sealing Platform, I ask, “Who are you?” The Kunlun beneath the sea is bitterly cold; at the Three Lives Bridge, we never meet. That night, lovers became enemies. From then on, forgetting my heart meant forgetting you. Beside the Tree of Forgotten Hearts, I am like the Fusang tree, yet without a heart. The people of this world or you: I would abandon the Three Realms and choose you. I’ll face your heavenly tribulation. I’ll bear the burdens of your mortal life. I’ll defy Heaven for you and suffer its punishment; I’ll give up my soul for you and wait for you by the River of Forgetfulness.
