A Marriage of Hidden Motives

After Lu Sheng was married off to bring good fortune to Wen Jichen, she went a whole year without seeing him. He only heard from others that she was a gentle, refined woman.

When they finally met, Wen Jichen’s verdict was, “Such a try-hard.”

The second time, he said, “She’s wearing a thick mask over her face.”

A year later, at a banquet, reporters were stunned to see Wen Jichen holding the hand of a beautiful woman.

As they were about to interview them, he confidently took the microphone and declared, “This is my wife.”

The reporters: ? Where did the try-hard, the woman with the mask go?

Seeing Wen Jichen’s gaze grow more and more intense, the woman beside him smiled happily. “So this is how you used to badmouth me?”

Wen Jichen placated her as if no one else were there. The reporters below could only think: Fine, fine. Just another part of this young couple’s little game!
