Great Tang: To Claim Yang Yuhuan, Send Li Longji to His Grave

He transmigrated to the twenty-eighth year of the Kaiyuan era in the Tang Dynasty and became Li Mao, the Prince of Shou, known as the “Cuckold King of the Ages.” Li Longji ordered me to divorce Yang Yuhuan. How was that any different from outright stealing her? As a modern man, how could I hand my wife over to someone else, especially when she was one of the Four Great Beauties, Yang Yuhuan? So Li Mao began playing the part of a loyal subject and filial son. He proposed sending Yang Yuhuan to a Taoist temple under the pretext of one of the Seven Grounds for Divorce, where she would atone for a year. In secret, during that year, Li Mao handed over all the profits from his business to Li Longji, recruited troops and gathered horses, prepared delicious dishes from later generations, and used food incompatibilities to poison Li Longji. He also sought out beautiful women from across the land, claiming he was helping Li Longji ease his lovesickness while secretly making him lose himself in their embrace. By the time Li Longji was on the brink of death, it was far too late for regret. They say Li Mao was Yang Yuhuan’s true love, while Li Longji was her bread and butter. All I can do is send Li Longji to his grave and claim Yang Yuhuan and the whole empire for myself.
