Great Ming: The Blind Imperial Tutor Who Built an Eternal Empire

While teaching in a rural village, Han Chen accidentally fell into a ravine. When he woke, Brother Yan had rescued him, but he was blind. To repay him, Han Chen took a job at a tavern. He soon learned that the town was extremely underdeveloped: it had no running water, electricity, or gas, and its people were steeped in Confucian thinking and hopelessly backward. Han Chen resolved to help the town escape poverty and backwardness, and to open the minds of the locals, especially Brother Yan. Brother Yan also liked to visit the tavern to discuss the past and present, asking about ways to govern a country and matters concerning the people’s livelihood. “Mr. Han, did the Fourth Prince, Zhu Di, eventually become emperor?” “Mr. Han, do you think Koko Temur and the Ming can stand against each other in a war?” “Mr. Han, can the Ming dynasty last for thousands of generations?” Han Chen was a little annoyed. Was Brother Yan’s knowledge of history really that poor? Still, he patiently explained everything, one question at a time. Just like that, five years flew by. Han Chen opened his eyes and, looking at Yingtian Prefecture, shrouded in smoke and about to fall, sank into thought. Wait... was this student of his actually the soon-to-be enthroned Yongle Emperor?!
