Farewell to Spring

Chi Wenliang's stepmother concealed her chronic illness and married her off to Shen Huaiche, the sickly heir of the Chang'an Marquis household. Before they could even enter the bridal chamber, Shen Huaiche collapsed from exhaustion, and Chi Wenliang's heart condition flared up. But this farce was actually a protest the two of them shared without needing to speak. Shen Huaiche knew he didn't have long to live and didn't want to burden a woman by leaving her a widow. Chi Wenliang, too, refused to become a caged bird, with no choice but to curl up in a corner. They had thought their marriage, real in name only, would simply muddle along like this. But then everything changed. After the maid at Shen Huaiche's side fell into the water, she suddenly seemed like a different person, full of life and passion. His heart gradually began to open. Meanwhile, Chi Wenliang gazed at the towering walls and the blossoms drifting through the spring air, the smile on her lips growing ever more frequent. Beyond the wall, a young man was bold and carefree, stirring her heart. Chi Wenliang gathered her courage. “Please wait, young master. Would you care to admire the moon with me?” Wanqi Lanyue arched a brow and played coy. “It's broad daylight. Where's the moon?” Chi Wenliang scoffed, looking at the large hand wrapped tightly around her waist. “Then let go of me.” Wanqi Lanyue lifted both arms and pulled her into his embrace. “Spring is the perfect season for admiring flowers.”
