Back to 1978: From the Start, I Confess to My Childhood Sweetheart

Tan Zhengliang lost both his parents, and when he was thirteen, his eldest brother died in an accident. Before he passed away, he entrusted Tan Zhengliang to his fiancée, who had yet to marry into the family. Defying the judgment of society, his sister-in-law came to the Tan household without hesitation and cared for him like her own younger brother. It was her love that, over the ten years they spent together, quietly changed Tan Zhengliang’s feelings for her into something else. Countless times, he thought that once he was capable, he would take care of his sister-in-law in his brother’s place. So, when he grew up, Tan Zhengliang confessed his feelings to her several times, but she always turned him down. “Zhengliang, I’ve told you again and again that we can never be together. Why won’t you listen? I’m your sister-in-law. You were only thirteen when we first met. What did a child know about love? You’re just attached to me. You don’t feel that kind of love for me. Do you understand?” In his previous life, Tan Zhengliang refused to give up after being rejected. But his sister-in-law’s suitor broke his legs, and he never recovered. He died of cancer at the age of forty. Only as he was dying did Tan Zhengliang learn how deeply his childhood friend had loved him. He had been blind, unable to see it. Reborn in 1978, Tan Zhengliang avoids the mistakes of his previous life. He decisively gives up pursuing his sister-in-law and confesses his feelings to his childhood friend instead. But his sister-in-law isn’t happy about it...
