Snake-Born Girl, Immortal Who Subdues Yin Spirits

I was born in a remote village. Our peaceful life was shattered when my older sister gave birth to a stillborn child. From that day on, blood rained from the sky, the living developed corpse spots, and an eerie atmosphere descended over the entire village. I was swept into the heart of the strange occurrences and became the object of a struggle among all manner of ghosts and monsters.

My big black dog transformed into a boy with dog ears to protect me. Then a ten-thousand-year-old snake immortal told me my life was full of tribulations and promised to help me overcome them and attain enlightenment. So I became a medium for the immortals, allowing them to take up residence in me as I exorcised ghosts, drove away evil spirits, and cast beans to divine the future for others.

Only later did I learn that the ten-thousand-year-old snake immortal was the root of both the calamities and the fated bond that would define my life.
