A Love Song from the Tarim

A young couple who have been in love for years grow stronger together as time tests their relationship. But just as they are about to discuss marriage, why does the woman suddenly break up with the man without warning? What really happened behind the scenes? How will the man escape the pain of heartbreak? Though the woman is promoted and her status changes, she cannot forget the lover deep in her heart. This love and affection can only be buried within her. As another man’s wife and a leading official, she cannot explain herself or make amends to the man she loves. All she can do is keep working, trying to suppress her longing for him by throwing herself into her job. Her achievements are plain to see, and she rises to a leadership position, but in the end she loses her way in life and turns to crime. The man, meanwhile, with the help of the person who has always loved him in silence, not only finds true love but also enjoys a peaceful, happy life, thanks to the care and support of his devoted wife and mother. Centered on the romances of young people such as Zhong Haitao, Liu Lanlan, Fang Rui, Li Bokang, and Zheng Yanping, the novel faithfully recreates the love, work, studies, and daily lives of the second generation of young people in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. It tells the pioneering story of the Corps’ first generation and shows how the second generation carries on their predecessors’ entrepreneurial spirit. The author devotes much of the novel to the young people’s entrepreneurial stories in the Corps.
