Lamp on the River

Zhu Duyi, a young doctor of literature, has never met the one he likes. When his parents pressed for marriage, he expressed his yearning for celibacy. His mother slapped him in the face, so he has been hiding in his best friend Xinhuo's house. Duyi's father, Zhu Hu, went to Dunhuang, Xinhuo's father, and tried to persuade Duyi to change his mind through Xinhuo. Unexpectedly, Xinhuo supported Duyi, claiming that he regretted obeying his parents and getting married in a hurry. Dunhuang and Zhu Hu were worried about their daughter's marriage. They happened to receive a call from their father, who wanted to recruit "telling ancient stories", a folk custom of Meijiang in southern Jiangxi, to renovate the earthen houses in their hometown of Hecun. Duyi's major is Chu Ci, and he was delighted to hear that the old aunt's "telling of ancient folklore" was similar to Qu Yuan's "The Soul Conjuring". During the listening process, Denghua's ups and downs in his life affected Duyi. Zhu Duyi recorded what she saw during this trip to the countryside, and gradually understood the meaning of Denghua's life through the exchange of ideas, and eventually met and fell in love with Denghua's descendant, a rural planner.
