After Giving Up on Men, the Marquess's Wife Goes on a Rampage

[As long as you don't care about a man's affection, being the mistress of this marquis's household means a life of freedom.]

Duan Xinyu, the concubine-born daughter of a low-ranking official, married into the marquis's household as its mistress. Everyone knew the Marquis had his own favorite concubine, Meng. The two were deeply in love, their devotion unshakable. Everyone waited to see Duan Xinyu make a fool of herself, expecting the Marquis to favor his wife, cast aside his concubine, then divorce his wife and drive her out of the estate. But not long after the wedding, people began to realize things weren't quite right.

"My lord, Madam hit Concubine Meng."

Ji Huaian nodded in agreement. "Good. She doesn't know the rules. She deserved it."

"My lord, this is bad! Madam is going to burn down the marquis's estate."

Ji Huaian nodded approvingly. "Good. We can rebuild it to her liking."

She killed, and he handed her the knife. She set fires, and he fanned the flames. How had the supposedly mismatched couple become so devoted, working together in perfect harmony?

When outsiders said she'd climbed the social ladder by marrying into a powerful family, Duan Xinyu couldn't care less. "As women, how could we rely on a man's favor to get by?"

Marquis, stop chasing me. All I want is to make money!
