The Han Dynasty's Strange New World

Zhang Yuan, a finance prodigy in his senior year of college, transmigrates to the chaotic final years of the Eastern Han dynasty and becomes a Taoist priest. At the time, Zhang Jue launches the Yellow Turban Rebellion, which sweeps across the provinces with lightning speed. The imperial court is terrified, and Emperor Ling sends a large army to suppress the uprising, but it suffers repeated setbacks. To put down the rebellion more effectively, Liu Yan, the Grand Master of Ceremonies, advises the emperor to replace provincial inspectors with provincial governors and devolve military and political authority to the localities. Emperor Ling agrees. Though the rebellion is soon quelled, local warlords use this arrangement to build up their own forces, disregard imperial authority, and bring the Han dynasty to the brink of collapse. Zhang Yuan inherits the Taoist tradition and is charged with spreading its teachings and repairing the flaws in the Great Dao of Heaven and Earth. But getting things done takes money! And in this chaotic age, with war raging everywhere, making money is incredibly difficult. I may be a finance prodigy from the twenty-first century, but there’s no way to put my skills to use here! Hmm... Looks like I’ll have to take on this chaotic world first and unite the land!
