Painted Bones of Longing

The bloodsucking monster of the Grand Tutor’s residence, Shen Mu, is engaged again! Everyone is waiting for him to ruin Ye Shuying, the Marquis’s legitimate daughter, and make her the fifth young lady to die a miserable death. But as they wait, the people witness her transform from a wild country girl into a female official at the Court of Judicial Review, solving cases and chasing down criminals. She chases him for three whole streets, until he coughs blood and collapses. Onlookers, enjoying the spectacle: So Shen Mu is the one being ruined! By chance, she discovers that Shen Mu switches seamlessly between two identities. When he’s her superior, she flirts with him; when he’s her fiancé, he goes all out to flirt with her. She pins him down among several portraits and asks with a half-smile, “Which one looks most like you?” Shen Mu: “They all look like me, since you drew them.”
