Reborn in the 1970S: The Fiery Stepmother Takes Charge

When Su Yunran woke up, she had become a young widow. Her husband had just died. At home, her mother-in-law was eager to throw her out. Outside, her ex-boyfriend was eyeing the compensation money. Before she’d even left, her sister-in-law, who couldn’t have children, had her sights set on the kids too. How could she let this stand? As the three of them tried to pin all the blame on her, Su Yunran put on a heart-wrenching performance worthy of Dou E’s injustice, even getting the village Party secretary involved. Her mother-in-law kept every cent of the compensation money, complained that Su Yunran and the two children ate too much, and did everything she could to exploit her. Fine, she wanted her to cook? She could do that! She’d use as many eggs as she wanted and make the rice porridge as thick as she pleased. Burnt? Oh, sorry. It’ll burn again next time! What? They were splitting up the household? Su Yunran’s tears fell like rain as she cried, but inside she was overjoyed. “That’s wonderful!” She raised the children and earned work points. Drawing on her experience running farms and ranches, she helped the village cadres turn the surrounding mountains into a thriving enterprise. The women’s director arranged blind dates for her every day with young men from the neighboring villages. But just then, her husband, whom she had never even met, came back from the dead!
