I Really Want to Fail!

Pu Jie is hailed as the king of new-media web fiction, the writer who understands readers best, a revolutionary in light fiction, a top screenwriter who rules by doing nothing, one of the United Nations' Ten Outstanding Young Persons, and the leading figure in exporting Huaguo's culture to the world in the 21st century.

He was invited to an interview on Huaguo's number-one radio station.

Reporter: “Mr. Pu, thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to join us. Is there anything you'd like to say to your readers?”

Pu Jie: “Thanks for the invite. I'm in America, just got off the plane. As for what I want to say... well, nothing.”

Reporter: “How have you achieved, at such a young age, what most cultural workers struggle to accomplish in a lifetime?”

Pu Jie pondered the question for a moment.

“I'm really just a flop. I honestly don't want to be this outstanding.”

Reporter: ?

Pu Jie: “If you keep reading my books, I'll starve to death.”

Reporter: ??

Pu Jie: “All right, I know you don't believe that, so I'll just make something up.”

Reporter: ???

Pu Jie stood up. “You see, I've always been sensible. I knew from a young age that I had no connections, no backing, and nothing but bare walls at home. Success was my only option.”

Reporter: “Mr. Pu, please calm down.”

Pu Jie flushed red. “You're so great, so noble, everyone loves you. Do you have any idea what I've had to go through? Just because I had no money or power.

I want to be a flop! I'll flop and flop my way to the top! I'll become the biggest flop of all!”

The staff restrained the visibly agitated Pu Jie, while the reporter smiled at the camera and said:

“As expected, every successful person has a moving story behind them.”
