I Would Betray the Buddha, but Never You

He cultivated Buddhism for nine lifetimes, then entered the demonic path in his tenth. He always called her a wicked creature. At first, she would argue back, but later all she could do was sigh. When she first saw him, he wore a monk’s robe that gleamed so brightly it hurt her eyes. The red of his robe was more dazzling than the sunset on the horizon. When his white jade prayer beads rested against her, she lost her heart in an instant. How could anyone like him exist? So beautiful he seemed otherworldly, yet always accompanied by the sound of a wooden fish and sutra chants. She was a flower spirit, yet she spent nine lifetimes keeping vigil before the Buddha for him, waiting to become a lotus bud in her final life and complete his merit. But his gaze fell upon her without a second thought. Before she could see him clearly, he had already drawn her into the demonic path.
