New Rhymes for a Clay Soul

The land of clay figurines cannot exist only in history. In an age when the intangible cultural heritage of clay sculpting is gradually being forgotten, Ai Yue sees her aging father awkwardly learning how to livestream like young people under the lamplight. Even with no one watching, he keeps sculpting and telling the stories of the craft through the ages. Suddenly, she understands why he insisted she learn clay sculpting as a child. It is more than a craft: it carries on history and bears witness to and records its era. Passed down from generation to generation, it harmonizes with nature, interacts with history, and is continually recreated. This legacy must not end with her.
