The Treacherous Minister’s Cherished Wife, Chosen by Fate

Cang Xuan, Grand Secretary of the Great Chu, is an unquestionable villain in the eyes of the world. Rumor has it that he has slaughtered countless people and used divination to beguile the sage ruler. Everyone wishes they could get rid of him as soon as possible.

But one day, people discover a little shadow that follows him everywhere. Su Yuanyuan, the dimwitted young lady of the Duke of Yong's household, has actually latched onto him!

She follows him out drinking, follows him to court, and even follows him to the pleasure houses...

At last, Cang Xuan presses his sword to her throat. “Keep clinging to me, and I'll kill you.”

Instead, she throws her arms around him and says with a grin, “Marry me, and I'll stop following you.”

Cang Xuan turns on his heel, the tips of his ears crimson. “You're impossible!”

But later, when he really does bring betrothal gifts to the duke's residence to ask for her hand, she turns him down. Looking apologetic, she tells him, “I'm sorry. I mistook you for the person who saved my life.”
