Urban Paranormal Tales

Do you believe there are ghosts in this world? Or rather, what do ghosts mean to you?

Fear? Death? Darkness?

My view might be a little different from yours. I can see ghosts.

Apart from those who died by suicide, who relive the moment of their death over and over in the same place, most are just like ordinary people. They simply have some unfinished business.

There are exceptions, though. Have you heard of a zhan? When a person dies, they become a ghost; when a ghost dies, it becomes a zhan. Ghosts instinctively fear zhans, just as people fear ghosts. Becoming a zhan means endless slaughter and death.

Zhans feed on people and ghosts, and come in all shapes and sizes. When they appear, they bring with them a strange, sweet fragrance, like burning herbs.

You ask how I know all this? My job is to help people troubled by supernatural incidents, and to help ghosts fulfill the wishes they left unfinished. And... to hunt zhans.

My name is Cao Qingming. If what I've said has piqued your interest, then it all begins with my thirteenth birthday and a strange woman.
